The Southeastern Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs will promote improvements in fire prevention and life safety, fire suppression, emergency medical services, and emergency related services. We will foster leadership, training, and networking opportunities; promote unity within the fire service; support a beneficial fire service legislative agenda; and elevation of ethical standards by its members.
MEMBERSHIP TYPES AVAILABLE
$40.00 Active - The Chief of the Fire Department and all Chief Officers as designated by the chief of a regularly organized public, private, governmental, or industrial fire department, Fire Commissioners/Fire Directors, the State Fire Marshal and Marshals, Public Safety Directors and those Chief Officers designated by the Public Safety Director whose primary responsibility is devoted to fire administration and/or operations, the Executive Secretary of the Michigan Fire Fighters Training Council and Council Coordinators.
$40.00 Associate - Persons affiliated with fire investigation, fire underwriting, fire education, or fire research firms or corporations. This classification shall not apply to public or private sector suppression members or organizations.
$60.00 Renewal Sustaining membership or $125.00 for 1st time Sustaining Membership prior to April 1st. $250 after April 1st. - Vendors, salespersons, representatives of fire apparatus manufacturers, fire hose, fire appliances, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, computers or any other product of an allied nature that is offered for sale to the fire industry. **See note below regarding your sustaining membership**
$10.00 Retired - Persons who have been retired from the fire service industry.
Life - Active Members who have served SMAFC as President, and have retired from the fire service. Life members shall not be required to pay membership dues.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month. These luncheons offer everyone a chance to discuss issues with their fellow comrades.

Many legislative issues influence your day-to-day operations as a Chief Officer. With your help, SMAFC can become an influential and persuasive voice in our State Capitol.
As you know, there is strength in numbers. We need your help now more than ever. We cannot accomplish our goals without your help. Please continue to support the SMAFC.
Vendors: Our 2009 Annual Vendor Show will be held at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, MI. April 9th. Each Sustaining Membership will get you one booth space (or one vehicle) for free.
Please Note: New Sustaining members pay $125 for their first year's membership dues, as long as they join prior to April 1st*. Every year after that will be a $60 membership fee.
*If you join after April 1st, first year membership fees are $250 for first-time sustaining memberships.
***MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT MUST BE PAID IN FULL PRIOR TO THE VENDOR SHOW, OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DISPLAY*** Absolutely no exceptions.
As always, you are encouraged to attend the monthly membership meetings which are designed to give you the opportunity to network with Chief Officers of local fire departments, thereby promoting your business.
